Cake Decorating Community - Cakes We Bake

I just got my very first wedding order... The bride wants 230 cupcakes and a small cake to cut.  Does anyone have instructions on how to construct a cupcake tower?  Any help will be greatly appreciated. :)

Thank you so much, Neryl, I remember seeing the one on cakejournal.com but I couldn't remember where I saw it.
we can rent a cupcake tower at our local cake supply store.. you might try this route also :)
how did it go? :)
Lisa, The wedding isn't until May so I still have plenty of time to work the whole thing out.  I'll keep you posted.

Thank you ladys for the web site on how to build your own cup cake tree stand...I love it
I have a couple that I use... neither are homemade... I bought them both at Costco.  They are made of metal one is antiqued bronze and the other is a black one with arms.   They each were around $30 to $40 and I love them.  Are not the traditional "trees" but everyone that I have used them for has loved them.

is the place that I use.  Very sturdy and reliable.  Oh and cheap...in my opinion.  Saves you have having to put a bunch of rounds together.

go to www.cupcakerecipes.com and I think you can find tower instructions on there.  I have stacked cupcakes on plywood rounds - works pretty well.  You can paint the wood and/or dress it up with fabric.

Kathy,

I got the one from http://www.efavormart.com/6tiercupcakestand.aspx  I got it on sale last week for $29.99 and was ordering ribbon for wedding invitations at the same time so the shipping was only $4.95 for everything.  Have not set it up yet... just got it last week but it looks good!  Clear so the cupcakes will be the focus and not the stand.  I like that!
