Cake Decorating Community - Cakes We Bake

I am wondering what you all use for support when you have a slightly heavy wedding cake topper. My bride has a glass topper that is engraved with their names. There won't be much around it, they want to keep it very simple, so it will just have some lemon and lime curly peels, slices and zest around it. I know it will need support, but I am drawing a blank as to what to use that won't show or interfere with the simplicity of it. Any suggestions? Thanks!

What about a decorative gumpaste medallion the same color as the cake so that it blends in? You should dowel the tier like you are adding another layer and place the hardened gumpaste on it like a cake board...if that makes sense. HTH
Thank you Laura! That's a great idea!

I have used those clear glass toppers and I put skinny dowels into the cake then cut a piece of fondant out and fill the hole with it. They have never shown and it does support the topper.
ok, thanks Jeri!
