Hi everyone, I need a little advise on the sugarpaste colour i need to use for the flowers and butterflies.
The pink, is fine, however, the purple i need, i dont know if the ' purple' colour i have is ok.
Its Renshaws's Regal Ice ' Amythyst Purple' I have a 125g from a supply shop ( its dangerous going in there ! ) only because its my fav colour lol.
Now, would this be too dark for a purple?
I know from thier ' Pink' the colour is slightly different when rolled out than what it looks like in the packet.
Could i mix it with a little white to lighten it? Would that work ?
Thank you so much for any help

Fondant tends to go a bit lighter as it dries. My suggestion would be to roll a small piece out, leave it dry and see if it lightens up enough for you. You can mix white with it to lighten it also, but I would advise against doing that until you have seen a dried sample. :)
Ok i will do that, I have a block of lilac but i think its too light. I will do that tonight. Would getting these butterflies and flowers to stick to the butter icing or ganache be ok. I have edible glue . Im not sure how to do this, it was easy for the fondant. Some of them i attached using a little glace icing too.
Maybe i will have to place them on at the last min? as i cant store the cake in the fridge ( i dont know what to do with the base of the cake yet) and also, when the sugarpaste comes back to room temp theres the prob of condensation.
Thanks for the idea Katy ;-)
Definitely leave your sugarpaste decorations till the last minute, or they will probably go soft from contact with the butter icing. As for attaching them, if they are fairly lightweight then you should be able to stick them on using a little blob of butter icing on the back of them - push onto the cake and hold them there for a minute or so, till they're firm. If they're heavy flowers, then you might have to attach them with a toothpick or something through the flower and into the cake.
Thanks Katy, I made a mistake with a few butterflies when doing my cake, i left them in the kitchen and of course, with it getting hot, with cooking the melted ! I had to make more.
OOhh tooth picks, now, i have problems with them and flowers lol The flowers fall off them dispite using edible glue. Its prob just me not doing it right. I was thinking doing the little blossoms i did on mine so hopfully that will be ok. Im thinking of all sorts of questions now lol
Thank you hun
Lisa
I'm leaving this answer to what Les has said on your other post, which you have probably seen by now. That man knows everything there is to know about flower making.
Lightening any colour of sugarpaste with white will be fine but as Katy said just do a little at a time until you get the colour you want, you can even mix flowerpaste with sugarpaste to get a firmer result than just sugarpaste alone that will give you an equivalent to modelling paste that is still edible but holds it's shape better
