Cake Decorating Community - Cakes We Bake

I never used the sheets before and I tried to apply it to fondant.  It wasn't sticking so stupid me decided to apply a little bit of water while laying face down on the fondant.  Well, it started sticking to the fondant right away and started to rip the bottom portion off.  I tried to draw Calvin's face and ended up coloring his hair all one color to not look so damaged.  What can I do to the bottom???  I do have their names still and can apply over it but will it look that bad????  I need to finish this cake tonight as well as another one.  You will see both the before and after picture.  It also discolored a portion of it by Hobb's arms.

Wish I could help you but I've never used icing sheets.
I'm am glued to my computer hoping to get some answer from anyone. I have another cake and two cake pop bouquets to do tonight and this one cake is holding me up.
you could make it look like they were behind a box of some kind .. a present ?? and then do like splashes of different colors to look like fireworks or just paint splashes....
True ~ I like that idea. I still have their names and was thinking about adding it to the bottom of the pics to hide the rip in the picture. I also have some orange icing that I colored to match his hair and used some if it for a shell border.
Maureen & Deah ~ I'm all set!!! Thank God my instructor called me. She said to remove the top portion of the fondant, replace it with another one and just decorate the edge so that it doesn't show were I removed it. I have an extra sheet of wafer paper that I can transfer the image on and apply it to the fondant. Going to tackle it now. Wish me luck:)
Good Luck hun,, Im sure it will be very cute
It was work but I did it!!! Removed the top 8" portion by using a board as a template, used the same board to cut out another piece to replace it with. Had an extra wafer paper, used a glass baking dish as a shadow box with my son's cell phone that has a flashlight in it, and drew the imagine on the wafer paper with edible marker and colored it in. With the buttercream, finished the edges so you couldn't see the mistake and it was done. I am very pleased:) Thank you all for being there for me! I'll post the final picture.
I'm sorry you were having so much trouble, but I'm grateful that you are sharing so we can all learn from you. What you've done so far really looks terrific and with the suggestions and then you wrote and said it was done. I anxious to see your final creation! Again, thanks for being so sweet and sharing!!!

Thanks. I did post the pictures up. Go onto my page and see the final version. It's funny now but I actually didn't want to do a thing until I heard from someone. At the moment, I'm trying to finish up one more cake and two cake pop bouquets that I haven't even dipped yet. I'm tired but it needs to get done for tomorrow morning, when I go to my full time job.
I have been off here for a few days.... just too much going on at school and exhausted when I get home at night so I have just been watching my new cake DVD's. I will have to see your final project! Were you using the Lucks sheets? When using edible images or lucks sheets I always use just a tad bit of gum glue to put them on... you have to be exact the first time... no moving them once the moisture hits them.
Also, when using the icing sheets on fondant you can brush the back of the icing sheet with a soft brush and water, very little water, but a better way is to use a small amount of piping gel to the fondant and then apply icing sheet.  Once you place the icing sheet on the fondant that is it so make sure your placing is correct
