Anne we do this all the time, take out some batter like to do a chocolate marble cake, instead of putting choc in it put in strawberry (the stuff you use to make strawberry milk) then mix it and marble the cake with it

I've also used this technique to make an orange creamsicle cake before and it was delicious!  You can really use any kind of flavor/color you'd like :)
