Scorpio cake
Hey ladies in need of assistance i have a friend who is requesting a scorpio theme cake she wants the scorpio on top of the cake but more like a 3-D image. My question is how to i begin to even make this scorpion this is a challenge cake for me but im up for the challenge because thats the only way i'll learn but i dont know where to begin to make this scorpion mold..I have added a picture of the cake she wants a scorpio like the on in the picture but she wants it way smaller

You can purchase a toy sized scorpion at some place like Michaels or a toy, hobby or party store for the mold to be formed from. See MakeYourOwnMolds.com for instructions & supplies about making a food safe silicone mold. It may be more than you want to spend on one cake if you don't plan to use the mold again. Or try Amazing Mold Putty (food safe) sold at Michaels & other craft stores for about $20 less 40% off coupon from the Sunday paper. You may also want to search for scorpion silicone molds online to see if one already exists in the size you're looking for. The one in the photo is gorgeous! Best of luck.

carve the body by hand, fondant it n make the legs from gum paste..the tail from rice krispies n fondant that too..use airbrush to spray gold airbrush..id use yellow the spray it gold ect..if u pipe royal icing for designs they will cover nice too..this is a mint cake..lots a work but damn nice when shes finished..i never use any molds i ree hand n im not artistic..u can make your fondant do what you want pretty much after the cakes covered..im not artistic but i will admit alot a challenges but ive thrown off some wild cakes..have fun n believe in yourself

thanks lori i might have to try that way because i honestly cannot find a mold i dont own a airbrush but she does want it at a size where i can hand paint it im going to work on this like tomorrow lol...and rice krispies how much i bake i never made rice krispies haha this is going to be fun thanx again...
