rolled buttercream

Hi everyone. I have a question about roll buttercream. can you us it on cookies and how does it work  with reg, buttercream or royal icing. I want to do a 3-d cookie for a b-day gift use roll buttercream I think like fondant on cookie? want to actent with reg. buttercream or royal  and I want the cookies to stand up on a base. Help please or how to's
