I am making a baseball cap for my stepson for his birthday, in the colours of his football team - Queens Park Rangers, so blue and white. I really want to try to imitate one of their badge logos onto the front of the cap, but need advise as to the best way to go about it. I've put a picture of the logo below and you can see it's quite tricky as it's going to be fairly small - about 2 inches. I daren't paint it straight on to the cake icing in case I mess it up, so I want to make a plaque that I can stick on the front or peak at the end. I thought about making a stencil and then painting over it, but that just won't work as the lettering is too small to cut out. So I think I will have to freehand it (scary as I am partially sighted!). If I do that, is it best to let the plaque dry and harden first? Or does anyone have any better ideas?

Could you bring the picture to a store near you and have them put it on edible paper and see if the can make it small for you before they copy. I know here in Boston ma I can bring it to a super market Bakery they do it.. Good Luck..
Thanks Patricia - I never thought of having someone else do it! i really don't know if we have that facility over here (UK) - we seem to be a lot more behind in these creative techniques that you guys over there. It's like all the wonderful flavourings and cake types you get - I have never seen anything like that here. Bunch of Philistines aren't we haha? I'll google and see what comes up!
Hi Patricia - thought I would let you know that I looked into this and there was nowhere near to me. I found several places online that would do it, but they were really quite expensive and couldn't get it done in time, so I took a deep breath and did it myself!

....and it turned out awesome, Katy!!
Wow you did a great job..
I've only just read this post otherwise I could have printed you the edible image for it. I have my own edible image printer and can print anything for you on either A4 or A5 icing sheets. If you need anything printing in the future, let me know, my prices are more reasonable than many online sellers.
Great job Katy. I made a retirement cake for my bro-in-lw, and didn't know where I could get an icing image I could afford. I am not very good at "hand painting", so I printed out the football team logo from the internet.
I then carefully cut it out then "plasticized" it with white glue. Yours looks just like the original.
Thanks Jackie - that's good to know. Your stuff looks really great and I see you are in the UK. Whereabouts are you?

Thank you so much Linda!

Thanks June. Funnily enough, my husband suggested I do exactly what you did and that was my back up plan if I broke the one I'd made!
