Cake Decorating Community - Cakes We Bake

I recently came across the wonderful Paul Bradford's site. He has online video tutorials on a variety of techniques which I have found enormously informative. I live too far away from any major urban centres to be able to get to any of the workshops offered by Planet Cake, The Whimsical Bakehouse, Cake decorating Central etc, so being able to access this type of content online is an enormous help.
You can pay £9.95 per month or £89 per year to access the content (which is continuously increasing as Paul adds tutorials). There are some free tutorials and videos as well.

Well Bettina

I can beat that. I belong to mycakeschool.com. It is $30 a year, or approx 19 pound sterling.

Ck it out.   :o)

Oooh June I hadn't come across this one before. Thanks for that. My problem is two fold. I have four kids and live at least 6 hours drive from anywhere that runs courses. I am completely self taught and it's fantastic that I can access content online now.

We are lucky Bettina just for the internet alone. There is a wealth of info at our fingertips. If you can't find something, someone on this cake site or others can probably find it for you. Even when I was working I couldn't afford a lot of the decorating courses offered, and like you, a lot were not in my direct area. They were either in USA ( I'm Canadian ), or in bigger cities miles away from me.. Now that I am retired, I definetly can't afford it. I belong to the Canadian Cake Decorators Guild. If I want a class, there always posting them. The women who started the Guild also teaches. There are a plethora of classes, if I want to drive, but the way I look at it is that I am just a hobby baker, and I can't justify that expense. Plus, I have to say, I kinda like the challange of figuring things out myself.

Another really good site for you to look at is sugarteachersblogspot.com.  ALL the tutorials, info, etc are FREE. There are good teachers their too, like...Enda De LaCruz  etc. And you can ask them  questions if you are having trouble.

I also like lovelytutorials.  Tons of tutorials on there.

:o)     this is a good one G. Glad you told me about it.
