Michelle, I'm not an expert on this by any means, but have you checked the sell by date, or does it just need a load of kneading maybe?

Yes, I did check the sell date and it is still fresh.  I have never used it before and it just seems chalky.  It does say to kneading may be required.  I gather it is required..or I just got a bad batch??  When use gumpaste (wilton or satin ice) I sometimes need to add some crisco (white fat)  I guess I am gonna try that.  Thanks for your reply. I will let you know how it works.

Good luck!

Pastillage is not like gumpaste. You should not add fat to it. Pastillage is used for construction elements, and for items that you want to dry very hard. I use it for flower-making.

If the item is chalky, knead it well. If it is still chalky, return it to the store as it may have begun to dry out.

Thank you so much for your reply.  This is the first time I tried it and I wanted to make buildings and such.  I have seen it used on TV..they never give you enough information. LOL!
