June, I used a soft brush, and a soft touch. I layed my paper cut out image on the cake and traced it with a skewer (toothpick would work). I used water to water down my colors the grooves left by the skewer keep it all in place, then when I'm finished I outline in bc. It really isn't very hard, it its tons faster than filling in with stars or filling in and smoothing it. I was fearful that it wouldn't work the first time I tried it, but it worked even better than I dreamed. I literally hand painted all the blue on the angry birds cake.
Ok Melanie

Ck'd out your Angry Bird's cake. Just amazing. A couple of questions.

What brush did you use? How did you stop the colours from bleeding? I am assuming it is like those star tip cakes, you outline your subject first, then paint. Along with Wilton white colour, did you use water or alcohol to "water" down your colours.

Melanie said:…

It's so funny that you put this question on here! I was considering saying that this is my new favorite technique! I just posted an Angey Birds sheet cake that I totally hand painted with a brush. It's the second cake I've done this way, and I'm loving it! I find that I've had to water the colors down and use white icing coloring (Wilton) with just about every color to achieve the look I want. I usually only paint on them when I know I can bc outline it when it's done. I also let my bc harden…

I usually only paint on them when I know I can bc outline it when it's done. I also let my bc harden really good before I do it. It's a lot quicker I'm finding. It only took about 35 minutes to decorate the Angry birds cake :) Amanda Hamilton has a video o…tag:cakeswebake.com,2012-06-09:4635016:Comment:9833912012-06-09T00:56:19.862ZLinda Quintavallehttps://cakeswebake.com/profile/LindaQuintavalle
