Hi, Ive been asked to make a huge cupcake or a 21st birthday. I showed my cake to a friend and now ive go an order ! Oh dear HELP !!
Now, i know about the giant cup cake mould etc and the lady would like white chocolate butter icing, ( which i had some brill advise on along with which nozzel im going to need) ;-)
She would also like the sugarpaste butterflies and flowers i had done on my cake. Also i thought of doing some normal sized upcakes to match the main cake.
Im pertified about doing this lol
Now i dont know what i should charge for this? Can anyone give me some advise?
Ive obviously got to buy all the ingredients, but also the cupcake mould, piping nozzle etc.
I had thought about £30 ? but i think Katy maybe right that, this isnt enough?
Also, should i ask for a deposit? ( i dont like to ask) but i dont want to go out any buy all this and she changes her mind next week !! The cake is for 25th of nov and i know im not going to get any sleep for a while lol
Thank you for any help
Lisa

Lisa - I'm going to let other members reply to most of this. But what I will say is - yes, you most definitely get a deposit. What you ask for is up to you, but I would suggest that you at least ask for enough to cover your costs in materials. There are quite a few discussions on CWB about pricing, some of which may help you. Check out this one and see if there are any clues for you there - http://www.cakeswebake.com/forum/topics/pricing-help-for-a-newbie?i...
Thank you, Katy, your right i have undercharged! Thanks for the link.
I live in a village, and i know a friend of mine pays anything from £30-70 from a local'ish speciality cake shop. £30 just for a basic covered cake really. (I get my sugarpate from this place too)
I did think of charging lightly less as its my first cake for someone else but now, thinking how much cake mix im going to need for the giant cupcake alone, i really should of gone for a little more.
I have asked for a deposit of £15 ?
At least i now know for next time. ( next time ? Goreti's right,im addicted !) lol
Lisa :-)
lol - there will be a next time for sure! £15 sounds good to me. Not too much but a decent proportion of what you are probably going to charge.
