Cake Decorating Community - Cakes We Bake

I have made some beautiful fondant decoration for a friends wedding cake. These decorations are very delicate. Since this friend lives in another state, I have to ship these to her. I have no idea how to pack these flowers so that they reach her safely without any damage. Any advice or suggestions will be very helpful. Thanks in advance.

I went to hobby craft yesterday and like a weirdo I sat on the floor taking some pics of their packaging for their ready made flower sprays and toppers. They are "sunk" into foam squares, shrink wrapped tightly so there is no movement and then the foam is placed inside a see-through plastic box which will help with breakages. I think this might be a bit expensive, and of course if the outer package got squashed a plastic box isn't going to help much.

The only other thing I can think of is to perhaps wrap as best you can with foam/bubble wrap and then pack it in an outer box with polystyrene to fit the sides. Or maybe one of those small gift boxes you can get from card shops, they are very sturdy and if you put the decs on/in some foam and then into the box it "should" arrive as safe as possible.

This is a pet hate of mine so if I find something that works I will be sure to let you know.

thanks so much Louise. I am planning to put it in a box covered with bubble wrap all around. Then will put that box inside another large box surrounded with peanut shaped foam for extra cushion. Hope that works.

Sounds like it should work OK.  Do let us know how it went?
