Cake Decorating Community - Cakes We Bake

For Valentine's day I've had a request foe a large heart-shaped cookie. Seems simple, right? Until she told me how she wanted it decorated. She wants it frosted red, with black writing that says "I love you", and a border of skulls and crossbones (like the symbol on a pirate flag). How the heck do you do that? Does anyone have any suggestions as to how I might go about piping something like that?

make yourself a template of the skull and bone, with you can cut those images on fondant or gumpaste. You can even do like Amanda siad with royal icing.
I would try to cut them out of fondant but I am almost leaning to looking at country kitchen sweeaarts and see if they have the little sugar ones that you could buy and put on there. That is a ton of work for a cookie!
there are candies of skull and bones , but i don't know how big you need them to be (they are kinda small). keep us posed.

She has left it up to me, but she suggested a border of them, so maybe a 1/4 to 1/2 inch would be ideal. I could also do a big one in the center. If anyone else has any other suggestions incorporating the skulls and cross bones, I would love to hear them!
