Need a yummy recipe for cupcakes (from scratch)

Okay So my hubby wants me to 'WOW' Him and our guest at my daughters 2nd bday with some YUMMY Cupcakes. So Im looking for a good fun/different recipe. And a good icing to go with? Please help... never made cake from scratch.. LOL Im a from the box girl. lol I have been looking but I would like something people have made and can give me tips. lol Thanks in advance everyone!
