Cake Decorating Community - Cakes We Bake

Hi,

I've been asked to make a Wilton cake from the catalog "Wedding Cake: A Romantic Portfolio", pg. 101. Beautiful cake. Anyway, it requires a Kolor-Flo Fountain ... are those even being sold anymore? The only one I can find on Wilton's site is the Fanci Fountain. Does anyone have information about either of these? And will the Fanci Fountain substitute well, if I can't find the Kolor-Flo?

Check with a local rental agency you may be able to rent the fountain. The last cake I did with a fountain the bride rented the fountain. The foundtain was dropped off to me and the bride was responsible for taking the fountain back to the rental agency.

Also, if you choose to buy one make sure that after use the fountain is taken care of properly. If not the fountain might not work when and if you need to use it again.
Renting it is a great idea; but I doubt if there's any rental place in my area that would have one. They have cement mixers and stuff like that, lol. The decorators whom I know don't have one, either ... they're all fairly-new to decorating, so, like me, they missed the fountain trend.

Thanks, all for the help.
Come on Mary Ann... they won't know the difference between a fountain and a cement mixer! I do like the idea of renting if available but here too... no where that I could! I still would tell her that she'd have to purchase it herself. You can only go so far to please someone!
LOL. You've got me convinced ... I'll call the rental place today. ;)
