Cake Decorating Community - Cakes We Bake

One of my June Brides would like to incorporate the custom monogram they are using throughout the wedding.  It is very intricate.  Quite Frankly, I doubt it can be piped in buttercream.  On past occasions, brides have provided me with customized stamps.  I then use the stamp (regular or negative space) on fondant & use a little luster dust.

I'm curious if anyone has used any other methods?  There has to be a way to make a silicone mold.  There's plenty of time & I am very open to suggestions.

Take a picture and use an Icing Sheet to print it out.  I hope you saw the video a couple of months ago all about icing sheets.  It was fabulous!  It was fun!  It is something that I wish I could have and do except I cake for hobby only.  If you don't have the equipment, I do believe there are places where you can send via email the picture and they print out the icing sheet for you - yep, it could be costly but it is what your bride wants so she will pay for it?  Here is the link to the Live Demo by Linda!  Watch it.  You will love it!!!

She is wonderful!!!!

Stampinsher, that was my first thought!  She can even email the image.  However, she would really like the monogram to have depth rather than a flat image.  I had not yet delivered the prescription bottle cake so I was able to show her exactly how the images look.  She liked it but it wasn't exactly what she wanted.

Yes, she is willing to pay thank goodness!  She's willing to have a custom stamp made.  Those can be very expensive.  I was just. hoping for some alternative

You are doing everything you can to make your Bride happy.  Keep going and I'm sure someone here will be able to give more suggestions also.

Have fun!  It sure is nice to hear that "The Bride" is willing to pay the extra amount for details!!!!  This is a very positive experience for you to share.

WOW!!!!! Intricate, no kidding!!!!! I wonder if there is a Cricut Cake cartridge that has that font, though the surrounding filigree still wouldn't be exact. Pretty...but WOW!

I seriously considered getting a cricut just for this purpose.  There used to be a computer program that allowed you to interface with the machine & print custom work.  Apparently, cricut sued the company & it is no longer available.  There is a huge uproar about it on the community boards.  I wish Cricut would produce a similar program.  It would be worth it to me!  I would even pay a monthly fee.

Yes I hear a lot of "discussion" about the Cricut and who has what rights/legalities etc....all I know is I love my machine and there is a lot of stuff I couldn't do without it.  :-)

love my cricut as well but if you want to do stuff that is not on cartridges check out the silloute   it cuts with computer images i believe

You could also use melted chocolate and pipe it onto parchment paper, freeze it, and then carefully peel it off.  I've done this for quite a few cakes, it's a very delicate process but when it turns out it looks fantastic and gives you that depth that you're looking for.  You can also do a buttercream transfer much the same.  :)

Jenifer, I do love the cricut.  I wouldn't want anyone stealing my potential profits, so I get them.  I just really wish they would offer something similar.  Kim, I could kiss you!  I had no idea.  I'm doing the research as we speak, but this may answer all my needs.  I do wish they specifically made one for cakes, but I see Linda McClure offers a tutorial.  I originally came across her years ago when people were converting the original cricut.  Shuswapcakes, that's a great suggestion.  My piping skills are good, but they aren't That good!  I don't think I could pipe something that intricate in buttercream or chocolate.  It would have to be huge for me to get all the detail.
