Someone wants me to make a I Carly cake for their daughter. I still trying to decide if I can do this. I am not a professional by any means and want to do something simple without edible images. But still my the little girl happy with this cake. I haven't told them that I would do the cake yet but wanted some ideas on what I could do. And she wanted to know a price as well. Where do I begin. Please help thank you.
cost of ingredients - always recoup the cost of ingredients and supplies down to the last teaspoon of vanilla and cake board
what other similar cakes in your area sell for - call other cakers in your area and see what they charge
how much do you want to make - you get to decide this
all of the above = price per slice. Don't sell the cake as a whole, sell by price per slice.
what kind of cake? buttercream, fondant? how big, what size pans are you using?
you can try doing a buttercream transfer off of a icarly coloring page...or do fondant cut outs using the coloring page as a template...the icarly laptop seems to be popular right now.
as far as the design, I agree with Sherry about the laptop. I wouldn't try to do an image of carly unless it was an edible image. have you tried googling icarly cake? here's one i found thought it was cute.
