Cake Decorating Community - Cakes We Bake

The cake I kept stressing about (coin cake for 100ppl) is finally finished!!! I started it on Tuesday and finished it last night. I must say, this was a challenge, but I'm happy with it.  I ended up making a 16" (three layers of cake, two layers of white chocolate mousse filling) and a second 10" two inch cake with one layer of filling.  I HOPE this will be enough to feed all 100 people.

If you want to check it out, it's on my page.

Thank you again, to EVERYONE, for your support, encouragement and wonderful suggestions/tips!

You all are awesome! :0)

Thank you so much!!! I'm pretty happy with it. Now I just hope they will like it and that it tastes good to everyone. Pretty nice for a $50 cake(s), huh??? LOL! I learned from my mistake! I'm such a ding-dong!

Girl, I am the same way, I only charged $30 a piece for those cakes I made last week, The lade told me when I delivered them..."For those size cakes you need to charge more". They know better, and we so do we.
Gretchen, we need to get with the program! Fo Real!!! lol! We put too much time, hard work and sweat into these cakes! I need to stop worrying about trying to keep in "cheap" for others and focus on getting what I deserve for all the work! I've decided: a minimum of $2.50 per slice for these big cakes... and maybe a bit more per slice for wedding cakes depending on how much detail!

Fantastic! Everyone will be extremely happy with your cakes. I'm curious did you do the design by hand or end up doing something else? An overhead projection, edible sheet, freehand or something else?
I commented on your photograph on your page as well (but no question).
They turned out fantastic! Congratulations!
Thanks ladies! :-)

Thanks so much!!! Actually, if you go to my page and click on "photos", it's the very first image/cake(s). It's titled "Farewell Cake". The large 16" cake was designed/decorated to look just like the Maintenance Squadron Coin. I probably just didn't name it correctly. Thank you, though, for the kind words! :-)

Hello, Diana. Greetings from South Africa. Where is your photo? Longing to see your cake. Where is it? Just joined the site. Barbara
Hi Barbie! If you go to my page under "photos", it should be one of the first ones (Farewell Cake). It's the large black and yellow one with the Knight on it. Thank you for your kind words! :-)
