Cake Decorating Community - Cakes We Bake

I have a request from a friend for a birthday cake for her hubby. The cake is for Saturday, but I would have to bake it on Tuesday or Wednesday morning and do the decorating on Wednesday. We are all going away for the weekend and we all be at our location on Thursday. So, my question is will the cake stay fresh that long? It will be a fondant covered cake and our mini-fridge in our room isn't big enough so it will have to kept at room temperature. I hate to go through all the work and then have the cake be stale.
Thanks.

I put my decorated cakes in the fridge all the time too - makes them more stable for transporting - never have had a problem! They stay great at a cool room temp for a few days, too. Good luck!

I was wondering about that. getting mixed reviews on if you can put a cake in the fridge. My first cake was a big leaning experience and the buttercream recipe I had used was too oily, so the fondant was sliding. once I got it all stable, I put it in the fridge overnight to try and stabilize it. worked fine. I was worried the cake would be dry, but it wasn't dry at all! in fact, family members were commenting on how moist it was.

I also live in a very dry climate, so we have little to no humidity. I wonder if that's one reason why condensation wasn't much of a issue.

if there is low moisture in your frig , the fondant and deco's should be fine! I've been testing my new refrig I've had fondant  and royal,  cake pops and  fondant and tylose mixed decos in for a few days now, they are fine still , wooo hooo I could not do that with my old frig!

your cake will be fine for about 3 days iv dun that already , i just put a sm air condioner , in the room i put it in , now i have a new frig just for cakes

I don't do enough cakes to justify the electricity used. I do have a small beer fridge of my sons, so if I really needed to put icing or something & needed the room, I could always plug it in & use it.

YAH THATS WHAT I HAVE , BUT MY NEW ONE USE'S LESS ELECTRICITY THAN THE BEER FRIG ! GO FIG ?

I envy you Gail.  I too have a small fridge in the shed that I use for overflow, but you really can't get that much in there.  I've told my hubby i want a huge American Fridge freezer in there, but I know I can go whistle for that lol!
