Cake Decorating Community - Cakes We Bake

I was just wondering if when you do a cake for someone do you use a packet or make it from scratch?

  I myself love the whole idea of making it from scratch, then after a while i discovered the fact that i might like the idea of decoration this great tasteing cake, and hence here i am today with this passion for decorating, my first is baking itself. I am in amazement at some of these amazing cakes that have been made with such passion. Keep up the great work people.

I, too, am a hobby baker, but I bake from scratch. I, along with an increasing number of people, am allergic to soy, and cake mixes (along with most other pre-packaged foods) have it. I tend to bake on the allergy-friendly side with great results. Scratch baking is NOT expensive. If you bake a lot you can get sugar, brown sugar, butter, flour, eggs, vanilla, and many other useful ingredients from a warehouse store like Sam's Club or Costco. Thanks to them, I've been able to support my cake habit without breaking the bank! Happy baking!
