Cake Decorating Community - Cakes We Bake

Hi everyone!

My sister is getting married and she is having my cousin make her cake.  He is a professional decorator and he works for a bakery that is in all of the local and some of the national wedding magazines called Icing on the Cake in Newton Ma.  Anywho, he is doing the cake for free and my mom really wants to pay him something.  The cake is 5 tiers.  2 chocolate, with choc mousse. 2 vanilla with white choc mousse. 1 red velvet with cream cheese filling.  Frosted in white buttercream and it will have star decor all over it.  not sure if it is royal icing or fondant stars, does anyone know what they would charge for that?  there are 200 people attending the wedding if that helps!

Thanks!

I noticed the prices are in AU$, is there a US dollars version of this site? Or is it similar to US?

It would really depend on how many the cake serves not how many people are at the wedding I would guess at 5 tiers it serves much more than 200. But wow too have someone offer to do that is amazing that is A LOT of work. A 5 tier serves between 300-350 people. Depending on tier sizes check out the link for sizes servings and an estimated cost

I am glad you all found it helpful!
Another thought instead of "paying" him for his gift of cake, is he interested in any special interests, if so could you make a nice donation to a charity he loves? That way he gets to give the gift he wants, yet his charity gets something also.
