Cake Decorating Community - Cakes We Bake

Hi everyone,

I have been struggling all evening trying to get my fondant to be hot pink!!!  My hands hurt kneading :(

I'm using the Wilton Rose color and i've added so much and it looks like it's getting peachy...i duno it could be my light!!!

ANY THOUGHTS?? i'm not sure what i'm doing wrong or what I can add to make it HOT PINK.

There is a Wilton pink that is hot pink if you use enough.
Im using wiltons Rose pink...is that the one you are referring it?

I've added a picture of what color I have vs. what color i'm trying to do...it's the Hot dark pink on the card....
Hi Meera - Huh - that's so weird. I've always gotten a nice hot pink from the Wilton Rose. Was this homemade fondant or purchased? The color is looking very Elmo in your picture.
Hot pink is one of those colors that is hard to achieve. I think you need a bit of blue, but I would not add it to the whole batch since what you have going on there looks a bit on the coral side and adding blue might grey it up too much.
Eileen it's store bought from a place here in Toronto called Golda's Kitchen. It's their brand.

I was reading on the Wilton website, and they have a ROSE PINK and a PINK...i think i used the wrong pink!???? I'm going to go and purchase the PINK and do you think if I add it onto this one it will be okay?? grrr....
I use Wilton Pink, Rosa Rose ~ perfect every time.
Diana...here is the wilton color chart...

I used the one called Rose Petal Pink Icing Color, are you referring to another color??
Meera - this is a picture of the container I use that gives me the Hot pink - and a bag of the color it makes. (I just happened to use it in my latest cake).

I purchased Americolor soft paste food gels in the Electric Color Kit always comes out true to color, I make my own MMF and put it in on the melting stage of the marshmellows I really have not tried it on store bought fondant.. Just food for thought..
no punn intended
Oh my gosh, I used Wilton 12 Icing colors, specifically "Pink" and I thought I accomplished getting my pink color that I wanted. I used Sherry's MMF recipe. That is the only fondant I have used because it tastes so good and fun to make. I'll attach my cake so you can see the colors. The pink bows, purple ribbon and chocolate are all Sherry's MMF.
Pink bows, wilton pink
Purple ribbon, wilton violet
brown MMF is the chocolate itself
Then I used buttercream (seriouscakes' recipe) same colors again Pink and Purple for my flowers and Kelly Green for my leaves.
All from Wilton 12 Icing Colors box.

I second the Americolor Electric Pink... it makes a nice bright pink. The Electric green is pretty cool too. =]
