Cake Decorating Community - Cakes We Bake

Hello, I have been asked to make cupcakes for a banquet and the theme is Hawaiian...

I am looking for some suggestions of different flavored cupcakes and or some with fillings...I would like to make a variety and I also am thinking of decorating them in bright tropical flowers...possible having the buttercream flavored to compliment the cupcake......to display I would like to do a tree or some sort of centerpiece on each table....

If anyone has soem good recipes, I would greatly appreciate it.....looking for something maybe exotic...

Thanks,Sue

How about trying some with brightly colored hawaiian flowers with colors such as fuschia, teal, orange, yellows, with lime green leaves.  Or you can find candy molds with flip flops, sea shells and things of that sort.  Hope ur able to come up with some ideas.  Keep me posted on how they turn out.
thank you, I will post pictures..the banquet is April 16th......so I have plenty of time
Here are some different flavors I came up with mango, coconut, pineapple, macademia nuts, and banana.  I like the idea of the bright tropical flowers.  You could also do some that are beach scene, palm trees.

Hi Sue,

I have a set of Hawaiian themed cupcakes on my page. Hibiscus flowers I piped using whipped cream and fondant molded shells.

How about a Pina Colada cake recipe? You could start with a yellow cake mix and throw in some cream of coconut, rum and use pineapple juice right in the cake mix (just replace the water with some combination of these liquids instead). Maybe fill them with some cream of coconut infused whipped cream (pastry pride is even better), or cook up some crushed pineapple with brown sugar to put a dab inside and decorate with the coconut whipped cream.  You could display them on brown&white sugar sand either as a beach scene on a cake board or under a palm tree.

Good luck! Sounds fun.

LOL I just had a client of mine order for a luau party.....I was asked to make pina colada, chocolate macadamia nut, italian wedding, lime in the coconut, & a pineapple jubilee (a pineapple cake with a brown sugar & cherry swirl) you can make a really simple & delicious pina colada cake with DH pineapple supreme cake, 1 tsp pure coconut extract, 1 c milk, 1 c oil, 3 eggs & a coconut cream cheese frosting =-))
Yum, sounds good!

I am a huge fan of coconut cake with coconut buttercream.   I will try to post my recipe.  Have a huge deadline this week with the yearbook at school so really should not be on here right now.  Just sneeking away for a break right now.  Love the pina colada idea above!

Plumeria and Hibiscus are the flowers that come to my mind after being in Maui last summer.

Thanks so much for the Awesome suggestions!!!! you guys Rock!!!!

Sue
