Cake Decorating Community - Cakes We Bake

Hi There, please can you help me. I am looking for a nice cake recipe that i can use. i want to cover my cake in fondant, i was told sponge cake is too soft and crumbly and i need a firmer cake. I used a madeira cake recipe which was great to cover in fondant because it is so firm but i find it far to dry. Do you have any good recipes that are nice and moist and still firm enough to cover in fondant? Thanks so much :-)

sorry that was meant to read good cake recipe, not god cake recipe...

Well Juanita

You can check Jeri C's page here on CWB. She has a lot of cakes from cake mixes that she & others have used here. Any pound cake would also be firm enough.  I bake both from a mix & from scratch, it depends. But i have used cake mixes and found they are firm enough.

Hope that helps

fantastic, thanks so much June. I will have a look at Jeri C's page and will also try the mixes. Huge help
