Cake Decorating Community - Cakes We Bake

I need to make some Gerbera Daisies for a cake next week.  I tried making them with a mixture of gumpaste and fondant but once dried some pedals started falling off.  I did make them a little thick.  Should I be making them out of gumpaste only and thinner?  Please help me as I don't have much time to waste.  Thanks so much!!!

I have only made them with GP. The petals on gerbera daisies are fragile. It really doesn't have anything to do with the thickness of your GP. The issue is the cut of the petal - not very wide (sturdy) at the center. You just have to be extra careful with them. It is completely frustrating to put so much work into them only to have them break.
Thank you so much for your prompt response. I'll keep your advice in mind.

I've made them with gp and I just made some the other day with fondant. Those are the ones shown in my avatar pic. Both times, I did lose a petal. I think you just have to be careful with them. And I thought I was!
That cake is beautiful. Did you make two layers of the flower? The ones I am making are bigger than yours because it is a two layer cake and they want it to look like a wedding cake. Any suggestions on the placement of the flowers for my cake? I was going to put some on the top of cake and stagger together two or three on the second and cake board.
