Cake Decorating Community - Cakes We Bake

Hi all!  I am making a cake for a 16th birthday party and I want to put roses around the bottom tier, but not really the traditional 3D roses, more of a flat version...does anyone have any ideas how to make them look right?  I've never been good at making flowers of any kind, so I'm just not sure how to figure this out. Thanks, I appreciate any ideas you can give me! :)

If you are using fondant, the easiest ones are the rolled ribbon roses. You just take a strip of fondant roll it thin, fold it in half then begin at one end and roll it into a rose. Super easy and great for a children's cake. They are not as formal as a real rose and look great!
Thanks Jeri! I think I am going to do some practice ones before I actually have to do the cake and see what comes out the best. :)

I made those on two of my cakes. You can check out my photos. One is the yellow fondant cake with red roses and the other is the 1st Holy Communion cake. They're fun to make and it takes no time at all. Good luck with them.
just wondering do you know how to make a rolled fondant rose, you take 3 circle's flat over lap less than a 1/2 way on top of each other, and roll you can cut in half and make 2, the other one is roll out your fondant fold in half and roll up. u-tube has videos you might want to use a 50/50 mix of fondant and gum paste, i use the recipe for gum paste on the back of the gum tex container.
