Hey Teresa
Don't know if you are "covering" the cake in gold fondant, or is it just gold accents? Either way, better to colour your fondant a pale golden brown, the colour of brown sugar, then add gold lustre/disco dust. I don't know if you saw a post here a week ago or so. Apparently in England, you can buy "golden" icing sugar. Assuming this would colour the fondant a golden colour and give a slight brown sugar taste. I am acutually going to make my own golden icing sugar. Bought some brown sugar, and going to place into my blender with some corn starch and give it a try. Hope this helps. I am sure you will more expert advice.
OK THANKS JUNE YOU ALWAYS GIVE GOOD ADVICE, I'M HAVING TO DO GOLD ACCENTS SO I WILL COLOR THEM BROWN FIRST THAT MAKES SENSE, I WILL HAVE TO FIND THAT POST I WOULD LIKE TO TRY THAT GOLDEN ICING SUGAR IT SOUNDS WONDERFUL!!

June, do you mean you can actually make like a powdered sugar out of brown sugar? WOW! That would be awesome!! Let us know how it works out. I had never heard of a golden sugar before.

Yes Linda
I saw this discussion on a thread I believe with Tracy D. Can"t remember exaxtly what the thread was about, but do know the golden icing sugar was available in England. SO, I surmised that if I put brown sugar + cornstarch in my blender....Wahla!!! golden icing sugar. Just bought the brown sugar yesterday, so going to try this wknd. Let you know how it turns out.
