Drawing blank on a cake design - HELP!!
Hi all,
I hope you are doing well. I'm kind of drawing a blank for a few days on a cake request from a client.
These are some of the requirements:
- husband likes photography, Canon DSLR camera
- favourite beer is Guinness
- likes his black Volkswagon Golf
- logo of the company he works for
She wants to incorporate all of these into a cake but does not want one item to be the focus. For example the entire cake to be a camera or beer. With her budget I cannot do a camera on top of the cake as the work effort is a lot. It is to serve 30.
Any ideas of what type of design? One I had was to place a Guinness beer glass on top of a 9" and from the base of the cake have a photo film reel (like the container) going around the base and on top and wrap a little around the beer glass. I can then have edible images on the photo reel, like negatives, of his favorite things.
I would really appreciate if anyone had any other unique ideas that would incorporate some of the items.

hi Mizztry - that's a lot of hobbies to put all into one isn't it? How are you at sculpting? Could you perhaps do a VW cake and add logos to the sides of it, like a rally car. So you could put edible images on the side and bonnet -
Or maybe a sheet cake with an edible image on the top and create a scene of a guy standing by his VW with a glass of guiness in his hand and someone taking a photo of him. This is assuming you have the software to create this kind of picture..........

Why thank you Mary - shame I'm not as good at executing my ideas as I am at having them lol! Never quite comes out how it did in my head.
