Cake Decorating Community - Cakes We Bake

Does anyone have a really good Vanilla Cake recipe that will wow?

My daughter in law only liked vanilla cake with vanilla frosting, so I am trying to find a recipe that will "wow" her.

thank you for your help

Hey all
I use a regular white cake mix and in addition to what's called for on the package, I add 1/4 cup or so of sour cream or mayonnaise. Makes the cake dense, like pound cake, and rich. Then the WOW comes from the flavouring you add. I've added Bailey's, champagne, cherry, lemon, lime flavourings/extracts, orange liqueur. The sky's the limit. I actually like the combo of a touch of peppermint, almond & cherry. Great flavour.... Make a batch of cupcakes, split the batter & add different flavours to each batch. Bake & taste. See what wows you...... :o)

Brushing with simple syrup works well. Be careful tho...go easy. If your cake is already moist, it will literally fall apart when you try & transfer to your board. Found that out that hard way!! I have also flavoured my syrup with same flavour used in the cake.....

My brother likes vanilla cake so much..So for his coming birthday i have planned a sunrise to make cake by my own...Any suggestions what to add and what not to add...???

plain cakes

CDTA is Teaspoon so you need 1 teaspoon baking powder and half can of Carnation Evaporated Milk which comes in 370ml, so just get half of that.

"lata" means can (half a can of....), but I can't figure out what "cdta" means.....I'd like to try this recipe, but I don't have a kitchen scale. :(
