When I make my cup cakes, I use my regular cake recipe, with one small change.  Either scratch, or box mix. I cut back the amount of oil I use. Makes the cupcake a little more dense.

I make cupcakes with exactly the same recipe as I do my other cakes, just adjust the cooking time.  I always bake from scratch and usually use a Victoria Sponge for vanilla cups or just recently I used a Devils Food Cake recipe for some chocolate ones.  Those were completely delicious!
