Cake Decorating Community - Cakes We Bake

I hope this isn't a stupid question. I've done 2 fondant cakes & want to be sure I'm doing the right thing. I have a 3 tier wedding cake next month and want to know when you are covering the cakes with fondant do you cover the cake board edge as well? I know you can add ribbon or bc to cover the edges of the board, but wasn't sure if I'm supposed to cut the fondant so that it covers the board too. Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks y'all.

Nikki, check out this site http://www.rolledfondant.com/how.htm Towards the bottom of the list there is a video of Ron Ben-Israel covering a cake.
Deah, thanks for the link. I think I'm gonna try to PVC pipe as my rolling pin. But I couldn't tell if he covered the cake board or if he even had a cake board underneath it.
There was a board there the same size as the cake - suitable for stacking. I normally cover my cake only - not the board. Some cover the board separately some with the same piece of fondant as the cake. I've read about covering boards but I haven't tried it yet.

Now, one time I was stacking cakes and covered the cake and tucked some under the board because I didn't want a border. I wasn't thinking and sat the cake on a board before I was ready to stack it. The fondant stuck to the board. I should have put a piece of parchment under the cake.
Nikki - if you take a look at the wedding cake I made in March, I did roll out a piece of fondant and put it on the board. I then let it harden over about 2 days so when I set the 3 tier cake on it, it didn't squish out. It's a nice finishing touch. I also put ribbon around the base of the board and then draped fondant leaves over the edge.
