covering a square cake with fondant

Jeanne,

Hi.  My very first cake was a square and round cake.  It is in my photo on this site.  I was able to do the square cake by slicing the corners and pinching them together and smoothing them out.  Now, is that the correct way?  I have no Idea!!!  Did it work for me?  Yes.  Then having the added red fondant (see photo) made it even better yet it looked good without the red before I added it, at least in my opinion.  I hope you can see the link below (gosh, I hope the link works!).  If not, just go to my page here on CWB and look at my cake.

Thank you so much Sher for responding to my question.  I had actually thought about cutting the corners cut wasn't sure if I could get it smooth enough after pinching it together.    I will definitely try this.  By the way, your cake was beautiful.  I'm very impressed that you did so well on your first cake.  Thanks again.  I'm new to this website but I think I'm really gonna like it.  God bless you.
