Cake Decorating Community - Cakes We Bake

wedding cake question!
I will make my friend's wedding cake in 2 weeks and she said she is ok with pretty much any cake, but the one she likes best is the yellow cake from
Costco?!?!!? ( for a wedding cake?!) oh well, since I have no idea how
they taste like, has anyone here ever tried?

Like your basic straight yellow mix with bucket icing. I think they taste like any store bought cake... icky, but that's my own personal taste.
that's what i was thinking..I might stick with my basic recipe for vanilla or almond sour cream cake then!
thank you very much Jeanne! I appreciate it.

Yes she is right they are very moist also tho.
You might try the WASC recipe but use a yellow cake instead.... I don't like store bought cakes at all so I can not tell you what would compare but I know the WASC recipe would work... just don't use the almond flavor in it stick with vanilla.
I just posted this recipe, and I will re-post it here too.
this is my version of the WASC

I use a recipe that is very close to this one and works great too; I got it from my Wilton instructor and have been using it for 2 years and everybody loves it.

1 cake mix box (I use Duncan Hines a lot, but have tried with Betty Crocker and is pretty much the same - do not use the butter recipe)
1 cup self rising flour
8 oz. sour cream
1 1/4 cup water
1 cup of sugar
2 tablespoons of vegetable oil
4 eggs

Optional - add additional flavoring to mix to compensate for the additional flour and sugar. Extra vanilla, butter, cocoa...

bake at 350 F. for the amount of time the box suggests.
