Cake Decorating Community - Cakes We Bake

Hi everyone,

Ive spent hours looking at nozzels today and the more i look, the more im getting confused !

Ive noticed that they all have numbers and letters. Are these standard ?

I have 6 nozzels at the moment that was a set, they have numbers and letters on them.

I bought an extra one a ' closed star rose swirl' to do the pretty ' open rose' look on some cupcakes.

Although, i think i bought the wrong one. I have tried it and i cant do it !  It just looks a mess so i cried and gave up :-(

I dont know what im doing wrong? Is it my buttercream or me ?!!

I would love to be able to do this! But also i need a large one for this giant cupcake.

Does it need to be a particular one, like ' open star'  or 'closed star' ?

I dont know which would look best on a giant cupcake?

Thank you for any help

A very confused

Lisa

I have started preparing for Christmas Eve dinner. Made the "filling" for my cabbage rolls. Putting them together & cooking Monday, then into the freezer. Only 22 for dinner.... no sweat! :0)

Holy crap June - 22?  To hell with that, my usual 12 is more than enough for me

It is Polish Christmas Eve Katy. Steve has one brother that is sorta the "black sheep". Keeps to himself, and his wife, poor soul, is nuts. And I am not trying to be nasty. She really is a little "off" and her children know it. Anyway, if they were to come, including their children & spouses & their children, it would be a total of 33!!!

This brother has a very small semi house, and years ago ran out of room to "host" the dinner. We rotate houses, so it was every 4 yrs., now it is every 3 yrs. This was a good excuse for them to "drop out" all together. That is Ok, they use to eat & run, not very social, so not missed. Feel bad for the children tho, cause if truth be told, they would love to be here. I live the farthest away, so the nieces/nephew don't drop in for dessert. They have at my other sis-in-lws, cause they only live 10 min away.

There are going to be big changes in a few yrs. as one brother is going to sell his house. Who knows what they will move into. A condo a apt??  I told Steve... I am NOT hosting every 2 yrs....... not happening. We will have to re-think our celebration.  There is one neice & nephew, 2nd generation,  who would host, but houses are 2 small. Two neices who could, who SHOULD, but don't, which ticks me off to know end. They want all the fun & enjoyment, but won't step up, take over, take a turn.  :o(

22 !!  omg June ! Your going to need a year to get over that !

Lis

I have got lumbered with Christmas Day for the last 3 years now June.  Starting to get on my nerves.  The only other place big enough to host it is in Luton, which is at least 30 mins up the motorway and no-one wants to do that, as they all live closer to me..............

30 min Katy.... only 30 min??!!! ..... that's nothing. We drive 30 min to Steve's family, and vise versa they to me.... and on the highway/motorway.  22 is nothing Katy, guess I am so use to itn by now. Family is getting a big surprise tho this year. Will have a table set, but it is going to be smorgasbord style this year. Since I have a bright new large kitchen, gonna have everything laid out their. Grab your plate & help yourself. This will cut out 1/2 the dishes to clean up. My house... my decision... take it or leave it.  hee hee

I haven't gotten the entire together in awhile because if I invite my family & my husband's it is over 50 people.  I did that for my daughters graduations and it was nuts.  Took me 1 week to recuperate.  I was exhausted.  Had people inside & outside, upstairs & downstairs (I have a finished basement).  I only have a small portion of hubby's family for Thanksgiving & the count was 16.   For Christmas I usually go to my younger sister's house but I bring tons of food w/me.  She works full time & I don't.  Besides I love to cook and she doesn't.  She loves my coming over.
