Cake Decorating Community - Cakes We Bake

I make my own MMF.  I am in the process of making a Sesame Street cake for this weekend and the figures are made of fondant.  I had the perfect purple fondant for the Count.  He came out great.  But today, I notice he is now blue more than purple.  He was sitting in a bit of direct sunlight. So, I don't know if that can cause it.  He is still a bit purple.  I am hoping I don't have to redo him.

Sunlight will cause fondant to fade faster.  Next time store your figures in a dark area.  At this point you can dust your figures with the same dusts you use for gumpaste and then steam it.  Steaming sets the color - only takes a second or two to steam.  These dusts are non-toxic but aren't entirely edible.   Next choice would be to paint it with a vodka/gel color mix and let it dry.  This may be a little sticky so give it overnight to dry.

Great thanks.  I figured the sunlight was the cause.

Yes Ken
Sunlight is NOT fondants friend. Like Deah, I store my made pieces in a dark area far away from light.
Good luck with The Count
