Cake Decorating Community - Cakes We Bake

Hey!

So i've been asked to make chicken wings on a cake.  First of all, i'm vegetarian and thus do not really know what it looks like.  I've seen pictures but i can't tell the shape of it.

The color is a dark brown...but how do i go about making it?  Fondant? Rice crispy?  I do not have a spray paint so i wouldn't be able to add any shades to it.

Help pleeease :)

Thank yoU!

I guess it would depend on what kind of chicken wings they want.  Fried? BBQ? Honey-glazed? Raw? (ew).  I would most likely use fondant.  If they wanted them to look like fried chicken, I would make the wings, let them harden for a day or two, then brush them with water so they are sticky and dip them in crushed up wheat flakes.  If they want them to look like BBQ, you can do the same as above, only instead of rolling them in the wheat flakes, you could mix some brown and red food coloring paste with a little vodka and brush it on.  It should stay shiny and look "glazed".  For Honey I'd do the same only with brown and yellow food coloring.  Does that make sense?  The shape is a little weird - can you go and look at the super market maybe so you can see what they look like?  Good Luck!
I would consider using modeling chocolate as well, depending on what brand of fondant you use people may not like the taaste.   Eileen had some good ideas on how to dress them up which should also work with chocolate.
