Cake Decorating Community - Cakes We Bake

I have always wondered what kind of cake they use, on the TV programs, that they can stack and carve without splitting apart. Does someone have a recipe or am I just missing something?? Thanks

They typically use a dense cake recipe. I use the recipe from Yolanda Gampp for vanilla & chocolate cakes.

I use the original WASC recipe for carving, the chocolate and vanilla versions.  Some of the cakes on TV looks so dry, I would ate to eat them.

I use the black forest recipe for carving. Cakes on TV are just for fun.

Thank you
