Cake Decorating Community - Cakes We Bake

Aside from chocolate, what other coating can be used for dipping cake pops and how will you make it stable with a lollipop stick?? We don't have candy melts here in the province so I only tried chocolate. I have an album of Lollicakes (Cakepops) in my Facebook page: "RC cakes". You can check the photos there. Thanks.

Maria - you can use fondant too.

I found this blog that you might find helpful -

Cover with Fondant
Make our Marshmallow Fondant recipe, and use these helpful tips to decorate with it.

  • Dust a surface with confectioners’ sugar and roll fondant to 1/8” thickness.
  • Use a 3” circle cookie cutter to cut circles.
  • Gently cover the cake ball in a piece of fondant and snip excess with scissors or a sharp knife.
  • Slowly roll the ball between your hands to smooth and shape.
  • Dip one end of a lollipop stick into melted candy, then stick into the ball. Prop up the pops in a block of Styrofoam and return the pops to the refrigerator to set.

You can thin regular icing & dip your pops into it. Or hold your pops over a bowl & pour the thinned icing over. The extra icing goes into the bowl to be reused.  You cover several times until you achieve the look you want. You could get creative and use different colors of icing on one pop. You secure your pop & stick with royal icing.  :o)

Thank you very much for your help. I will try what you said. God bless....
