I think this your best advertisement... I just spent $450 on cutters and DVD's so no cricut cake for me! I am loving learning the fine art of the gumpaste flowers. Very time consuming but oh so pretty!
Hi Jeri...I know...do not feel bad...I spent $350.00 in cutters only and today I spent on colors, icing, and stencils way over that....I think it is our addiction. I thought I would buy the cricut mainly for the letter monograms and small details. I spent 26.34 hours piping damask patters out of a fast setting chocolate and after piping 364 of these x 3 times the little machine is worth it. I am mainly looking into doing letter monograms...I am OCD and it took me 20 minutes to cut 3 letters free hand with an exacto knife ;-). have fun with the flower cutters...They are so much fun....
The damask and the letters are what I was looking at the cricut cake for too... but I have not gotten any orders for a damask cake so I thought hmmmmm maybe I should wait until I actually have a reason. I know what you mean about the OCD thing... I finally have a good selection of petal dusts and cutters and tools and you know..... veiners etc. I am doing an 80th birthday cake for an aunt who is very dear to me and I am doing all gumpaste flowers on it so am kind of excited about it.... It will be a true labor of love.
Please share pics. when you get them done....I love gumpaste flowers and know you will do a great job!!!!! Stay in touch and Have a Great Week!!!!!

I got my Cricut Cake, when HSN launched it.... Is this price a bundle? I know I got 2 cartridges with it, a pack of frosting sheets and something else for $389 I believe. Ebay is a great place to get cartridges because they all work with the Cake and expression. My aunt is going nuts. I do love the idea of the Cricut and have every intention of using it. I just am having a problem with the product to use. The frosting sheets that came in my bundle, are so thin, I can bearly get them off the paper. I bought premade gum paste, and fondant. The fondant was easier to kneed and roll out, but was very soft to cut. The gum paste was a little harder to roll out, did get a small pasta maker to roll it though but it is not big enough, but I did find the gum paste was a little stiffer to cut. I am really new to working with these. I never really like fondant, and never worked with gumpaste. But am excited about the possibilities. If anyone has any suggestions let me know.
Gretchen, if you keep your gumpaste in the palm of your hand and allow it to warm up it starts getting softer. You can kneed in a little crisco... I usually put a bit on the palm of my hands and just work it a bit and it becomes very pliable and rolls out very thin. I remember when I ordered my first bucket of premade Satin Ice gumpaste, I thought I got ripped off because it was so hard and I was just sure they sent me a dried up bucket! Just keep working with it... it is nice once you get the hang of it But do keep it sealed in an air tight bag and in a plastic bucket or it will dry out on you. While you are working with it work in small sections and keep the rest in an airtight container. It does like to dry faster than fondant.
