Cake Decorating Community - Cakes We Bake

I just got an order for a First Holy Communion cake and they want lilies on it.  I know how to make them with royal icing and a lily nail, is it possible to make them from buttercream?  Any advice will be greatly appreciated.

Kathy, I've made buttercream lilies many times. I use the technique like the pointed petals of the orchid in Roland's buttercream flowers book. I make the puffs under the petals higher and the petals a little shorter--6 of the pointed type petals. The center can be a puff of buttercream with wafer paper/fondant/gumpaste stamens stuck in it.
Thank you so much, Marsha. I have that book in my baking library so I will give it a try. I have a couple weeks to practice before the cake is due. Thanks again!!
