I worked for a catering company and you have a few options, Dummy cake w/ cupcakes or you could do Mini Cakes so you get more servings out of it and decorate each one differently to show off your skills, It really depends on how much time you have! If you do the bigger cakes like 10" rounds you can be diverse w/ flavors and decoration! I really love to make the inside pretty or match the outside color for presentation and displaying for that many people! I had to do 1000 cakes for the city's Grand Illumination festival last year, all presents, Trust me don't do cubes!! It seemed to take forever!! also the new Fad is the crazy cupcake papers, you could keep the cake simple and tasty, just pop the cupcakes into decorative wrappers! Good luck! Post pics when it's over!!
Thanks. I am going to do 3 dummy cakes and the I think sheet cakes for tasting. I think I am going to cut and pack them before going and just pass them out in containers. I was going to slice it there but for my first show I thought that would be a bit much for me. I am trying (lol) to do a 2 tiered cake and then a one tiered cake, then a sculpted grroms cake. I got the 2 tiered almost done and the one tiered I just ned to come up with a design of something. ANd still thinking about the grooms. I hope all goes well I have a really busy next week, doing a topsy turvy for the first time so I wanted to get all the bridal show stuff done this weekend so I can focus on the orders for the weekend. I really love doing it though. I love th peoples faces when they see the cake and they love it and its more than they expected.:)

The Chinese take -out boxes you can find at any dollar store are always a big hit because people don't see them walking out with a plate of cake! and that way you could have everything ready to go when you got there! just a suggestion because " paper Plated cake" isn't as appealing. People like to have something to take home, remember a lot of brides will be there but if you send a piece of cake home to her husband to be you're that much more likely to get that client if they both love your cake!! If you want to go cheap, make envelope boxes from thick paper! People love this!! You could even have a paintbrush set up so they see each "package" could be personalized! Good luck and best wishes on a lot of cakes in your future! For the grooms cake stick to sports or beer, I find these are the most requested grooms cakes! Lace is very "in" right now! Good luck w/ your topsy turvy too!
Thanks for the info. Envelope boxes , what are they??? I Chinese boxes, I thought about those. I actually bought some containers that you would get at the deli. Thyey are clear and I was going to put labels on them and Ihave some ribbon if I can come up with something cute. They were very inexspensive. About .11 a piece. I agree some here give cake out on napkins but to cut it and serve at the bridal show that think would be way to hard.

Basically get thick paper and fold it into a box there's a lot of websites about how to fold paper into neat shapes...(envelope style is easiest in my opinion!) The Deli container thing sounds good...I definitely agree that you should have little to do the day of, with the right organization it'll be a breeze and you'll be cursing yourself for not doing Bridal shows sooner! Also, If the Bridal show has a theme you should stay in the realm of things, otherwise October is Breast Cancer Awareness month so pink ribbons should be considered! Lots of luck, and lightning- quick finger, blessings to you!
