A day to celebrate!
This last week has been a whirlwind for me. Not only did I have 5 cake orders to fill but I also had to travel 4 hours to the Family Court in Newcastle, NSW to my divorce hearing! As we have no assets to speak of and 4 children under 18yrs, as the sole applicant, I had to attend court, my ex didn't! So after a grueling (LOL) 5 minutes I was granted a divorce which will become official in 30days and 1 day - NOT, I repeat, NOT in 31 days, but 30 days and 1 day! That's NSW law speak for ya! So now I have an idea for my divorce cake and as I don't have an animosity toward the ex other than the low level stuff you have for expecting more than they wanted to give - it's not going to be bloody but I can't wait to make it now!
As I was down that way I took the opportunity to duck into 'The Raspberry Butterfly' at Maryville, Newcastle and peruse their shelves of cake decorating delights. I was suddenly a kid again trying to decide on what was going to go into my bag of mixed lollies!
'I'll have one of those, two of those and 6 of...oh wait! I'll have four of them, one of those and....oh heck I have $300 what can I get with that?' LOL
So I bought a kajillion kilos of fondant, about the same in chocolate, half a litre of cake decorators rose spirit, cupcake cases and mud cake mix....and felt that even though I don't smoke, that I should now go outside and have one...that's what you do after good sex in the movies and this was nearly as good!
So four hours later I was home again stroking the fondant buckets and calling them my precious, when my children quietly came in, shot me with a dart used for sedating lions, then put me in my favourite jacket with the gorgeous silver buckles that do up at the back..........

hahahaha oh Bettina you do make me smile thats made my day the picture in my mind that conjured up was sooooo funny and yeah i know what you mean about wanting everything in the shop i can never ever just get the 1 thing i needed but always come out with at least 6 more that i wanted lol

I don't know if I want to laugh or cry. Congrats??? I guess on the divorce. I was married & divorced very young. Abusive marriage. But I still remember how painful it was to go through, although that was 37 odd yrs ago. I didn't have children, so I can't imagine going throught it with. A never got the "divorce cake" thing. But I guess it is cathartic. I do get going goo goo in the cake supply store tho... Hee Hee.... When my eyes glass over talking about cake.... I think my hubby would like to being out the jacket with the buckles!!!!!

Bettina you just crack me up - you are defo completely bonkers and I LIKE THAT IN A PERSON!
Congrats (?) on the divorce, but sorry it came to that. Wish everyone could have what I have. (Mind you, it took my man two attempts to get it right. I'm the second attempt needless to say).
Look forward to that cake then.......

Oh you made my day! Congratulations - went through the same thing myself what seems like a hundred years ago. Just celebrated 17 years with my second (and best!) husband and couldn't be happier! (Unless maybe I had $300 to spend and was at the cake supply store.....hmmmm....) (just kidding honey!!)
