Cake Decorating Community - Cakes We Bake

I was very excited to see a Cricut Cake class offered, but saw that it was $500.  The class is actually more expensive than the Cricut Cake itself, and before I commit to spending that much money I wanted to know if it's actually worth it.

Has anyone taken any classes by Cutting Edge Cake Art?

Here's the link to the actual class:  http://www.cuttingedgecakeart.com/store/product_info.php?cPath=23&a...

i havent but i have seen the cricut at overstock for $299
Yes, the Cricut Cake is also available at walmart.com for around the same price.

What Cutting Edge Cake Art is giving is the class for $500 - where they teach you how to use the machine. I'm wondering if the class is worth it, or is the machine easy enough to figure out on your own. From all the videos I've seen of it....it looks easy enough to figure out.
I bought one and returned it. I just couldn't get it to do anything that it was advertised to do. But it might make a huge difference if I had been able to take a class (and had a little more patience!) :)
it does as long as you get the right consistency for your gum paste or it will rip. I do know of someone who is new to cake decorating and shes great with that thing. I know, I've been interested in them as well. I tried to bribe myself saying."if i am good on my diet and exercise...when i get to a certain goal....I will buy one. Seems a little odd to reward weight loss with something that may bring me many calories..*L*
I just purchase it for $179 at joanns

wow you guys are so lucky i've been gagging to get my hands on one of these machines but here in the uk they are sooooo expensive.
I have the cake mini and love it....I don't use it all the time, but what I like is doing my lettering with it....at first there was alot of trial and error (and still) ..I only wish the cartriages were cheaper....

I'm also interested in how people are doing with them!  I just purchased a mini from JoAnn's for $99....I couldn't resist the price!  I've been so busy lately, that I haven't been able to use it - and am hoping for advice!
