Cake Decorating Community - Cakes We Bake

I hope it is okay to post this here...

I have a Cricut Cake Machine.. used only twice, and 4 cartridges ( 2 are unopened) and I need to sell it asap!

it works great..

as stated , I only used it 2 times.. I have only had it for a few months..

I don't really WANT to sell it, but I need to.

I really need the money.

My mom  is living on a fixed income ( disability) and her fiance was laid off 2 months ago and they REALLY need help with some of their utility bills.

I don't really have anything else worth anything that I can sell that i can live without.( This is a "cake luxury " item to have...i suppose )

the cricut retails for 300-400 and each cartridge retails for 30-70

anyone want to make me an offer?

Have they said why they are discontinuing the machine?  I feel for the folks who paid $400 for them.  Ouch.

I am sorry to hear of this unfortunate situation. Just to give you a heads up, The Cricut Cake (full and mini sizes) are being discontinued and Michael's/Joann's are practically giving them away. The cartridges are as low as $20, the machines themselves are as low as $100 brand new. It may be better for you to just keep it. Martha Stewart is now marketing the machine and cartridges so... anyway, good luck and continue to pray in these uncertain times.

Really?  It must have really not done well to be discontinuing it so soon!!  I'm sorry for all the people who shelled out the big bucks to get one!

Apprently it's not selling as well as they thought it would.

I bought mine at full price and I have been SOOOOO disappointed! It was for sure not worth what I paid for it. What I read is that they haven't discontinued just that craft store are not going to carry any longer.

For every good review I have read, there must be at least 3 who hate it! And not only beginner cake decorators either. It doesn't seem to be all that people expected which is a shame. It seems that the learning curve for many is quite steep and although persistence pays of, it's time, which for many, they don't have.

I also make cards so have been eyeing off the cricut for a couple of years now so when I saw that they were bringing out one for cakes I thought brilliant! But it's not as straightforward to use as the one for cutting paper and results can be variable. Don't get me wrong if someone bought one for me I wouldn't be throwing it out.

The cricut for paper/card etc is exceptional. A bunch of my crafting friends either own the full size cricut or the cricut expressions and love them; wouldn't be without them. Just plug in and away you go. It's a shame you can't say that unreservedly about the cricut cake.

i agree , there is a learning curve to it..  i bought it to save money on expensive cutter.. especially for text.. and some cutters just dont exist in the design i need- i do a LOT of freehand, as in, no cutter.. no stencil ect.. but when i need to have multiple fondant peices all cut out EXACTLY the same- and they are small and /or intricate, uniform dosnt always happen when doing things freehand. Which is why i bought the cricut cake-

I have invested a LOT of money and over the past year aquiring cake supplies.including my 6 qt. pro series kitchen aid mixer.. expensive ateco silicone mats.. cutters.. an 18 in. stainless steel rolling pin...fat daddio pans ect.... many of which i cannot live without.. which is why i  choose to pluck the cricut cake from my arsenal of cake  things- it is a luxury item- not a nessesity.... I do not have a lot of "luxury items" ... this was absolutely a splurge... which is why I cannot justify keeping it when the money i could possibly sell it for  could keep my mom's electricity turned on.

I AM willing to sell JUST the cartridges.. some of which are NOT for the cricut cake..they are for the cricut expression ( for paper)  but can be used for either machine.

That's exactly what I thought it would be excellent for. Really sorry to hear that you've got to sacrifice it though.

Hi,

Do you still have this for sale?  If so, how much?   Thanks, Loretta
