Hi everyone My name is Dee and I'm from Hampshire UK, I joined this site yesterday I came by it quite by accident and I'm glad I did, reading some of your post and looking at your cake pictures everyone seems really nice and my goodness what amazing cake makers there are here, your cakes are all so lovely.

I don't have any training in cake making/decorating (it shows with some of my cakes lol)  I started making cakes for family members mainly for my children a few years back.

As I said I came by this site by accident when I was using Google for ideas for one of the next cakes I want to make for my youngest daughter who will be 7 in May, last year she asked me if I could make her a horse cake which I did and thankfully it turned out not to bad (she loved it) this year she has asked me if I could make her a dolphin cake I'm like ekk where do I start with that lol  I also have another daughters birthday (middle daughter) next month she will be 18 and at the moment I have no idea what sort of cake to make her.

Hello everyone... My name is Mai and I too came accross this site by coincidence while browsing the google images for cakes :)

I've developed recently this interest in cakes decorations, haven't taken any classes but I think I'm doing well for a beginner (my profile pic is my 5th cake; just made couple of days ago).

I need to know how I can benefit most from this site and to know the sort of activities you guys do here.

Looking forward for your ideas & tips ;)

Hi Dee... Happy birthday to your daughters and I love the dolphin cake idea... You'll find beautiful ones on google images... Check that link too (I liked this one and think it's easy to do with some coloured fondant)

Welcome Dee & Mai - as others have said before me, this is a lovely site to be a part of.  Everyone is so supportive and helpful, whatever your level of expertise.  Dee, I live in Harrow in Middlesex and both my brothers live in New Milton - anywhere near you in Hampshire?

Thanks Katy... You're right, it's a lovely site and a lovely group of people... I'm already getting useful tips and helpful explanations.

Truly glad to join you :)

Welcome Mai and Dee.. glad to see more folks .. I'm Helen  and have been a member for a while now,  feel free to poke around my page and have a look,  I am more into figures and toppers for cakes  but still dabble in the making of them.  :)  Just remember one thing..... most of us are not professional  we are mostly home bakers and regular ladies like yourselves.. Never appologise for any cake you make..  if you need help there is usually someone here to help.. if not you are welcome to jump on over to a facebook page that I go to called UNITED BY CAKE...  just a bunch of ladies helping each other out and having a bit of a chat...

Thanks Helen for your kind greeting and I've enjoyed the photos on your page... Very nice stuff and explained to me what you meant by "toppers & figures"... English is not my first language after all :)

As I'm still exploring the site, I too have uploaded some photos (actually everything I have which is little :)) and would love getting your comments.

Hi Mai and thank you, I will check out the link you posted, that dolphin cake picture looks really cute I'm sure my youngest would love me to try something like that for her birthday.
