Oh Fiona, there are so many great soccer ideas on here. If you go to the Photos section and just type in "soccer" I'm sure you'll find lots of ideas. You can also type in "Soccer cupcakes images" on Yahoo! and you'll find literally hundreds of pictures!

If you have a mini ball pan, you could even do individual little soccer balls alternated with regular cupcakes piped on top like grass. :)

Fiona,

I did this cake for a soccer-themed birthday party over the summer. Eileen has a great idea with the mini soccer balls - I tried to do soccer cupcakes with the mini-ball pan but I am not good enough to make it work! I couldn't get the white icing smooth enough without getting icing literally ALL over the place and I bought a tube of the black decorator icing since it's so impossible to get a good black with homemade buttercream, but the consistency was terrible and in the end I just took one of the mini balls and plopped it on top of the cake, as you can see.
